Questions

Posted By Elgin Hushbeck

These days I have a lot of questions. I watched a bunch of Leftists on a panel talking about Mamdani and the hope he brings.  Yet I kept wondering, this is July 2025, why are they all wearing masks? They didn’t even work that well for COVID, but they keep wearing them.  Sure, they could all have had a medical condition, but I doubt it.  When I see protesters in masks, I assume their main function is to hide their identity, but that was not operative here.

The double standard in Justice remains.  Pro-life supporters block a clinic and get years in jail.  Yet a 28-year-old pro-choice supporter savagely beats two elderly (73 and 84) pro-life supporters, kicking them in the head and leaving one with permanent eye damage, and he gets 1 year of home detention. When will there be one standard for all?

Pelosi is still pushing for “gender-affirming” care for kids, and accused the Republicans of “having no winning ideas.”   Meanwhile, Frank Lunz said on CNN that Trump is so popular with his base because he is doing exactly what he said he would do before the election, and this is why they elected him.  So I guess he has a few winning ideas.  What are the Democrats’ winning ideas?

Democratic congresswoman Delia Ramirez from Chicago goes south of the border and says,  “I’m Guatemalan and proud of it — first, before American.”  Actually, she was born in the US. Predictably, her response to critics was to say that they are only against her opposition to  “the nativist, white supremacist, authoritarians in government.” I am surprised she didn’t include racist.  Yet, if she thinks this of the government she is a part of, no wonder she is a Guatemalan first. Shouldn’t a congresswoman put Americans first?

Rachel Maddow last Monday said, “That thing we were all warning about for the last few years is not coming, it is here.” She added, “We do now live in a country that has an authoritarian leader in charge. We have a consolidating dictatorship in our country.”  Of course, if she were correct, she would not be on TV saying it. Then again, given her network’s falling ratings, is she saying it so that she can blame Trump if her show is cancelled, like Colbert’s?

Sydney Sweeney:  You know, if everything is Nazi, doesn’t the word Nazi become meaningless?

Absurdity.  Texas Democrats flee the state to oppose gerrymandering by flee to one of the most gerrymandered states: Illinois.  But the Democratic Governor of Massachusetts Maura Healey takes the cake for threatening to do the same thing in her state if Texas does not stop. The problem is, although Trump got 36% of the vote, Massachusetts has no Republicans in Congress. So, what is she threatening, to redistrict so a Republican can win?

Sometimes the “why” becomes clear. Trump wants a new census that does not count illegals.  The Democrats are screaming foul!  So, I guess it is now clear why Biden opened the border for illegal aliens. With each congressional district having about 760K people, 10 million illegals equals 13 congressional districts, and this is even if they don’t vote, which some do. So, the at least 11-20 million illegals give the Democrats between 14-26 House seats, probably more given gerrymandering.  Now we know why it is that Democrats support illegal immigration and have sanctuary cities. It is just another way of gerrymandering districts to give them more power.

Yes, Republican gerrymander as well, but illegals can be used to magnify voters.  If you have enough voters to create a single safe district for your party, with illegals, you could make it two safe districts. While it is theoretically possible for Republicans to do this, they don’t support illegal immigration, don’t want them counted in the census, nor do they have Sanctuary cities to attract them.  Chicago is a blue sanctuary city.  Most of the rest of the state is red.  If you did not count illegals, would Illinois still be a blue state?  Also, an audit of the last census shows a number of errors, which is understandable.  But the errors always benefited Blue states and harmed Red, how does that happen?

Congressman Campbell’s recent post has another reason Democrats are in trouble.  He said, “Education, Health Care, caring for the poor and the environment were supposed to be their signature issues. The only place they can claim some success is in the environmental arena. Air and water quality as well as the status of our national parks has arguably improved over the last 70 years. But that’s it. They used to run on these issues. But it’s hard to do that when it is so obvious that where they have been in charge, the condition of those issue areas has gotten worse.”

Given this, what are the Democrats to do?  He writes, “Answer: If we can’t solve any of the real problems out there, let’s make some up.”  However, the problems they made up don’t work, alienate voters, and undermine their credibility.

You have to wonder if Democrats have a short-term memory crisis.  Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has been spending a lot of money on illegals, against the wishes of his constituents, such that his approval ratings are between 9-14%.  Yet now, according to NBC, he is complaining “many key systems people rely upon, like education, health care, housing and transportation are ‘woefully underfunded.’”  How long have Democrats controlled Chicago?  I checked online:  “The last Republican mayor of Chicago was William Hale Thompson, who served from 1927 to 1931.”  Wow, he must really have left a big mess if Democrats are still trying to fix it almost a century later. However, maybe if Johnson had spent the city’s money on the city’s needs like his voters wanted, instead of illegal aliens, would Chicago be in this mess?

As for Trump, he continues to rack up wins.  CNBC puts his approve-disapprove numbers at 46% approve, 51% disapprove, though other polls have him as low as 40%.   The approval number is up 2 points while the disapproval remained unchanged. Given the nearly 100% negative coverage of the mainstream media, with coverage like Maddow’s saying we are now in a dictatorship, this is not bad. I have to wonder what his approval rating would be if press coverage was 50-50. Of course, if the press covered Republicans, like they cover Democrats, would it be over 60% approve?

In his first eight months, Trump has negotiated eight peace agreements.   When you add the Abraham Accords from his first term, how likely is it that Trump will win the Nobel Peace Prize? They are such a leftist group, I am very skeptical. Remember, they gave Obama the peace prize for basically just winning the election and the IPCC for climate change.  However, what if he can end the Ukraine war this week?

To close, a CBS host put the dumb in dumbfounded. When talking about potential settlements on the moon, he asked Niels deGrasse Tyson if we should be worried because of our history of colonization. Tyson was polite and pointed out that the problems of colonization had to do with indigenous people. No one lives on the Moon.

Short:  Why are many people disturbed by Robots?   Some see an exciting new technology. Business owners see potential to replace staff. The wealthy see potential  house work? Most people see something so expensive they never expect to own one. Where a business owner looks at a robot and sees a machine that can replace an employee,  people see a robot that could take their job.

There is no stopping them and they will vastly change the economy and how we think about work. But how? Will these choices be made only by those with enough money to afford one such that by the time the prices drop, we are all stuch with what they decided or will people have a say about these changes? The clock is ticking.
